Counselling for Children and Teens in Plymouth and Online.

At ND OK! we can offer neurodiversity informed counselling and coaching support to young people aged 10+.

Neuro-affirming counselling can help children and teens to understand themselves whether they are pre or post diagnosis or just wanting to navigate through life.

We can offer weekly, fortnightly or monthly appointments for children and young people to gain understanding, help and support.

Children and young people’s appointments can be facilitated via:

Traditional one to one talking therapy: Suitable for Children and Young People who just need a space to talk and make sense of their lives and the world; gently guided by highly experienced person centered counsellors. These sessions are most effective when attended regularly at least once per week or fortnight.

Psychoeducation: Suitable for Children and Young people who prefer a bit of structure and want to learn more about their specific mental health or developmental symptoms and how they can navigate through life with them. Psychoeducation can help us learn about our emotions, thoughts, feelings and behaviors and how these may interplay with neurodivergent traits. These sessions can be one off or short term or attended less frequently.

Therapeutic Coaching: Suitable for Children and young people that feel they would benefit from a hybrid approach. Therapeutic Coaching is a little more solution focused than counselling and combines talking therapy with goals, shared ideas, and practical ways forward. These sessions will likely need to start off with weekly or fortnightly appointments but can move to monthly or be flexible in line with changing needs.

Parent (family) and Young Person appointments: Suitable for Children and Young people and their parent(s) to explore strengths and difficulties involving neurodivergent traits within the family home and wider environments. These sessions can be an extremely effective way of gaining a shared understanding and moving forward when feeling stuck, in conflict or unsure how to help. These can be one off or short term appointments and are a valuable way of enabling families to be on the same page with neurodivergence with the child or young person at the centre of the support.
